Sales of games in the Devil May Cry franchise have surged as a result of the new anime adaptation’s success. DMC 4, DMC 5, and the DMC HD Collection have all reentered Steam’s Global Top Sellers. Devil May Cry 5’s player count jumped from around 2,000 concurrent players to just over 13,500 players in the span of a few days. Devil May Cry 4 and the Devil May Cry HD Collection have also seen similar sales boosts in the past week.

The success of the Devil May Cry anime adaptationand to a lesser extent, the Onimusha TV seriesserves as early proof the company’s multimedia expansion strategy in action, showcasing how Capcom is leveraging its game IPs beyond consoles and into streaming platforms.
