Amazon is offering the 2021 Sony X91J 4K TV for only $1798. That's $1000 off the original $2800 MSRP. The last time we posted a deal on this TV was back in March of 2022 for $2000. This is an excellent price for one of Sony's best LED LCD TVs of 2021, and at a massive size.

The X91J was one of Sony's higher end TVs in 2021 and thus it features a lot of the newer technology you'd want in a dedicated gaming TV. The X91J has a true 120Hz panel with HDMI 2.1 inputs for 4K @ 120Hz support, which you want for the PS5 and Xbox Series X gaming consoles. It supports VRR and ALLM, although you may have to update the firmware to the latest version. The X91J also produces an excellent HDR picture thanks to its full-array LED backlighting with local area dimming and wide color gamut, as well as Dolby Vision HDR support. The Google TV smart interface is a nice upgrade that you'll only find in newer TV sets. It's more intuitive to use than the older Android TV interface.
Low prices on massively sized TVs like this is a big reason why projectors are becoming even more niche than they used to be. A true (not simulated) 4K projector costs upwards of $4K+ and even at the price the image quality wouldn't compare to a higher end TV like the X91J. With projectors, you'll also have to worry about light control as well as the projector screen (both of which could cost a pretty penny). Compared to the more common and less expensive 55" and 65" screen sizes, an 85" TV is a huge upgrade. An 85" TV boasts a 70% larger viewing area than a 65" TV and a whopping 140% larger viewing area than a 55" TV.
