Oddworld: Soulstorm launches this week, April 6 but it was recently revealed that the PlayStation 5 version of the game will be free on PS Plus at launch and throughout the entire month. PlayStation 4 owners might feel a bit slighted at their current gen brethren getting the game for “free,” so developer Oddworld Inhabitants announced a free path from PS4 to PS5.

If you buy Oddworld: Soulstorm on PS4, take solace in knowing that you’ll be able to upgrade to the PS5 version for free. That applies to those buying the physical version of the game; you’ll get the digital PS5 version at no extra cost. Keep in mind that the disc version won’t be available in stores until July 6.

Conversely, those who pick up Soulstorm for current gen while it’s free on PS Plus will not get the PS4 version along with it. For those unaware, purchasing multiplatform games on PS5 usually gets you the last-gen version of it too as a separate download. Oddworld: Soulstorm is also coming to PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive. Oddworld Inhabitants shared minimum and recommended specs required to play the game.

Minimum requirements:

Windows 7 64 Bit, Intel Quad Core 1.7Ghz, nVidia GTX 670 or equivalent, 8GB RAM.

Recommended requirements:

Windows 10 64 Bit, Intel Quad Core 2.3Ghz, nVidia GTX 970 or equivalent, 16GB RAM.

Oddworld: Soulstorm stands as what creator Lorne Lanning considers the true sequel to Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee and the second part of his Oddworld quintology. Lanning originally envisioned the series as five games starring Abe but that changed with Abe’s Exoddus’ arrival just nine months after Oddysee. That kicked off a new path that led to follow-ups like Munch’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath that, while mostly well-received, wasn’t what Lanning had in mind back during the series’ early days. Soulstorm gets that vision back on track.
