Amazon Studios has announced it will be adapting the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer into an upcoming TV series headed to Amazon Prime Video. Similar to the 1997 film, the upcoming series is also based on the original 1973 novel by Lois Duncan.

Amazon says the series is a modern take on the classic film but features a similar premise that includes a group of teens stalked by a killer after a fatal accident occurred during their graduation night.

“The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I Know What You Did Last Summer series from Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie,” said Albert Cheng, COO and co-head of television at Amazon Studios.

The series will be written and executive produced by Sara Goodman, who previously wrote episodes of Preacher, Outsider, and Gossip Girl. It is being produced in partnership with Sony Pictures Television.
