This The Last of Us 2 Walkthrough Chapter 3: Seattle Day 2 – Hillcrest provides tips for taking down WLF soldiers and all the collectible locations and notable areas including 10 Artifacts, 5 Trading Cards, and 1 Journal Entry, 2 Workbenches, and 1 Safe.
Hillcrest Walkthrough
Leave the theater and go to the Projector Room on the third floor to find Dina. A cutscene will play and things will pick up at Hillcrest.
Trading Card – Wachumero
As soon as you leave the theater and end up outside Hillcrest, turn around to look back at a sinkhole with a muddy truck stuck in the ditch. Break the rear window and reach in to find a trading card.
Explore and Cut Through Local Businesses
Loot the following areas: Turn left to hop the fence and slip into the bathroom on the right, through the brick wall for supplement pills and alcohol. Exit and turn right twice to find the back door into the natural remedies building for more supplements and more. Check Madrona Bakery as well.
Artifact – Join the WLF
Go through the window of the Majestic laundromat. In the back office, you’ll find another artifact: a Join the WLF note.
Artifact – Boris’ Daughter’s Drawing and Workbench Location
Head inside the Rosemont store and crawl through the hole in the back to circumvent the locked door and reach the basement which includes a workbench and other loot. And an artifact called Boris’ Daughter’s Drawing.
When you’re ready go ahead and continue straight forward, over the truck to reach the next area.
Journal Entry – Fuck the WLF Graffiti
Examine the Fuck the WLF graffiti on the WLF banner to get a new journal entry
Artifact – Yolanda’s Note
Enter the used and rare books and pick up the artifact behind the register – Yolanda’s note.
Artifact – Need a Plan Note
From the Ruston Coffee shop and the book store, head left down the road to a sinkhole, and look up to the right to climb up in front of a shop called Caroline Paper Co.. Break the windows and climb through to find a note on a table in the middle of the shop.
Trading Card – Shair the Sorcerer
Also inside Caroline Paper Co., head to the very back of the shop where several small cardboard boxes have been stacked and look inside the tops of them for the card to appear – it’s easily missed in the dark as the icon won’t appear unless you are looking down into the box.
Grab supplies from inside Ruston Coffee; you can get through the locked door by climbing through the bathroom vent. Cut through the coffee shop, go through the back door, hop the fence, climb the ladder on the right to get to the roof, and drop down into the area below.
WLF Soldiers and Their Dogs
Get ready to take on WLF soldiers and their dogs.
Tips:

Toss a brick or bottle to distract the dog and throw them off from your scent.Kill the owner then isolate the dog.

Get a headshot while having a silencer on your gun (if you’ve unlocked the ability to craft that item.

Set up traps (using Trap Mines).

Loot the area as you go and do another sweep once everyone is dead
When you’re ready to continue head for the red exit doors.
Continue forward and open the gate to get the dumpster out.
Move the dumpster to the side of the garage and climb it to get to the roof. You’ll need to do it quickly because it rolls down. Drop down and head into the building ahead, through the hole in the brick wall.
Workbench Location – Bicycle Shop
This workshop has a workbench in it. Be sure to loot this room as well.
Trading Card – Naledi the Youthful
Inside the bicycle shop’s workshop, look around to the back of the room with a door leading to an office, and a cork board. Below the board is a bicycle stashed in the corner, and a trading card has been placed in the spokes of the back wheel.
Artifact – Condolence
Walk around this workshop and enter the office connected to it. There, you’ll find an artifact: Condolence Note.
Continue forward, exiting this bicycle shop.
Enter Goldstar Liquors and drop down into the back. It has 2 shamblers inside and supplements in the bathroom. Use Molotov cocktails and your shotgun to take them down. When they’re dead, crawl under the brick opening to exit.
Precision Training Manual
Exit the bike shop and pick up the Precision Training Manual behind the cash register (on the floor).
Drop down the window and keep an eye out for the infected (two are ahead).
Artifact – Note in Hillcrest Tattoo Parlor
Head into Velvet Tattoo parlor and lot the place for supplies (including supplements). In the back (office area), there’s an artifact on the table.
Shear Lux includes supplements.
Artifact – Dale’s Combo
The dog grooming place has 1 Shambler and 1 runner inside. Take them out. Go to the dog washing area, in the back to find an artifact on the wall called Dale’s Combo. Supplements are also in that area.
Artifact – Turn in Boris
Smash the glass to get passed the locked door in the dog grooming shop. There’s loot including supplements and an artifact: Turn in Boris.
From here, find the safe with the combo you just got!
Safe – Auto Repair Shop
Jump over the fences or walls in between businesses (you can also cut through the back of Shear Lux) and move the dumpster to access the door to the Auto Repair Shop. Behind it is a bunch of runners so have a molotov cocktail ready, then get some distance and shoot. Another option is to line that area with some trap mines. Open the safe with the code 30-82-65. Check the back room for more supplements and other loot. Note: Inside this safe is a Gun Holster (if you didn’t find both in Downtown Seattle).
Go back to the dog grooming area and cut through the washing station to reach the staircase
Go up the stairs. Several infected will be there. Take them out. If you end up in a bind consider running back down the stairs and luring them into trap mines or simply shooting them from a distance.
Jump over the wooden fence once they’ve been dealt with.
Trading Card – Brainstorm
Go to the opposite side of the children’s playhouse for the trading card – Brainstorm.
Enter the home.
Artifact – Boris’ Confession
On the right, check out the living room table for some supplements and an artifact – Boris’ Confession.
Artifact – Rosemont’s Flyer
On the left, there’s a small table with an artifact on it Rosemont’s Flyer. When you’re ready head through the hole in the door by the kitchen and get ready for a quick brawl that gives you an arrow recipe and a crossbow.
Mannequin Crossbow Tutorial
You’ll also find some extra arrows too so don’t bother crafting any yet. Go ahead and jump over the bent wooden fence.
The Battle of Hillcrest – Residential Area and WLF Soldiers
Up ahead, there’s plenty of WLF soldiers and dogs. Keep taking them out and moving forward from house to house.
Tips:

Use your arrows for subtle kills. Aim for headshots so you can get your arrow back from the body.

Loot the houses for supplies.
- Grab a collectible inside one of the houses (details) below.
Trading Card – Reverb
At the battle of Hillcrest where you must take on several WLF Soldiers and attack dogs, you can find a trading card hidden in one of the many houses on the block. After the enemies are dealt with, run up the first street to the very end of the block to a house on the right with an adjoining garage (look for the house number 1214 above the front door). Go through the front door, up the stairs, and turn around and go up the hall to a bedroom with a window overlooking the front yard. Go prone and wiggle under the bed to find a trading card tucked away here.
Eventually, you’ll reach a gazebo and can exit through the garage, sliding down the dirty slope. From here, run to the garage and then sprint for the exits. Things seem dire but a friend will appear. Take down the nearby WLF soldiers and Jesse will let you know it’s time to get in the car. Once you’re in the car fire shots out of the open window until you’ve escaped.
A cutscene will play and you’ll start the next section: Seattle Day 3 – Finding Strings.
