Since this season of The Walking Dead is ending one episode sooner than anticipated (with post-production on episode 16 delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak), this Sunday’s episode 15, “The Tower,” will serve as the Season 10 finale, and we’ve got an exclusive first look at the opening minutes.
As we saw at the end of episode 14, Eugene, Yumiko, and Ezekiel encountered an enthusiastic, goggle-wearing, gun-toting survivor who comic book fans will recognize as “Princess,” aka Juanita Sanchez (played by Paola Lazaro). In the opening minutes of “The Tower,” we’re given a proper introduction to Princess, who is a little… unpredictable. Watch the opening minutes of episode 15 above or in the player below:

Fans of Robert Kirkman’s comics know that Princess’ appearance is a precursor to the group encountering the inhabitants of the Commonwealth, an expansive community with almost fifty thousand survivors. It’s unclear whether we might see the Commonwealth in episode 16 of Season 10 when it eventually airs, or if that reveal is being saved for Season 11, but the show has hinted towards the existence of this massive settlement at several points over the course of the series – particularly in the character of Georgie, a well-organized (and surprisingly clean) leader of a mysterious community who ended up recruiting Maggie, who many fans assumed was an analog for the comics’ Commonwealth leader, Pamela Milton.
Executive producer Scott Gimple recently confirmed that the Commonwealth would be coming to The Walking Dead: “There are a lot of changes to the comic story and the show, but it is important to me, and to Angela [Kang, TWD’s showrunner], to tell the story from the comic… it’s a version of the story from the comic.”
Episode 16 of The Walking Dead Season 10 will air as a special episode later this year. “The Tower” airs Sunday, April 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on AMC.
