A photo leaked Saturday from Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man rogues’ gallery film Morbius, starring Jared Leto. But unlike the set photo Leto himself posted from last March, this glimpse showed us the actor fully done up as Marvel Comics’ Living Vampire – and fan reaction seems to be leaning solidly toward the positive.

Some fan responses have been bowled over by the “killer” picture, which has sold them on a movie that they weren’t even all that excited about up until this point. Other are cautiously optimistic, commenting that while the image looks good and comic-accurate, we should all wait for the trailer to see how the character looks while moving.

Check out the leaked image below in a sampling of some of the responses from fans around the web:

And of course, there are already fans chomping at the bit for a Venom and Morbius face-off:

Based on the comic book character of the same name, Morbius — starring Leto, Adria Arjona, and Matt Smith — follows Dr. Michael Morbius, a respected biochemist suffering from a rare and fatal blood disease. Desperate for a cure, Morbius performs dangerous experiments on himself using vampire bat DNA and inadvertently transforms into a “living vampire.”

Sony is releasing the movie on July 31, 2020 in the US and UK, and on July 30 in Australia. Later this year, the studio will release its second Marvel Comics movie, Venom 2, on October 2, 2020.

For more movie news, director Scott Derrickson has dropped out of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, Sony may have found a new director for its Uncharted movie, and Nicholas Hoult has joined the next two Mission: Impossible films.
