Warning: this review references the major plot twist from last week’s X-Force #1!

If there’s any single takeaway from this week’s crop of X-Men comics, it’s that the core X-Men series isn’t necessarily the biggest mover and shaker in the franchise right now. Both X-Men #2 and Fallen Angels #1 directly reference and build upon the big twist from X-Force #1. It’s a stark transition away from the dense, plot-driven approach of House of X and Powers of X. And while this highly interconnected nature of these books may be a problem for those determined to read only X-Men itself, that approach does free up Jonathan Hickman and Leinil Yu to explore their characters in greater depth.
