Today is launch day for The Outer Worlds, and as countless gamers start their journey into Obsidian’s latest RPG, many of them are wondering how long it will last them. A few of us here at IGN have already burned through it, so here are our answers to that question.

The clock on my save file read about 30 hours when I wrapped up the final mission, though it’s important to remember that this number doesn’t reflect the amount of time you spend between the most recent autosave and when you die. And though I sailed through the first half without many deaths, I then turned the difficulty up from Normal to Hard and found myself biting the dust fairly regularly if I didn’t take my time when planning out a fight in advance. (In the interest of finishing in time for the review I ended up turning it back down to Normal for the final mission, which is not super easy!)
