Ubisoft has proudly announced that their ultra-tough team shooter Rainbow Six Siege shows no signs of holding back on the door-kicking and window-smashing just yet, having passed a milestone of 50 million players.

First released back in 2015, Rainbow Six Siege meandered along quietly for some time before Ubisoft decided to double-down on support for the online multiplayer title, while also adding new maps and operators to the game on a seasonal basis. Today, Rainbow Six Siege has grown into quite the phenomenon within the eSports community, and is renown for its twitchy, unforgiving gameplay and strong focus on psychology, reads, and teamwork.

Of course, it isn’t perfect. Like all online multiplayer titles, Siege sometimes suffers from severe toxicity within its community, which can lead to in-fighting, booting and team-killing in abundance. To its credit, Ubisoft works hard to fight this menace, implementing new ideas and dishing out bans like there’s no tomorrow. While a few bad eggs will always exist in Rainbow Six Siege, it’s worth noting that the game remains one of the smartest and most engaging shooters ever devised.

Rainbow Six Siege is available now on PS4, PC and Xbox One. Its next seasonal update, Operation Ember Rise, is currently on the beta servers and is expected to launch soon.
