Pokemon Detective Pikachu has made $436 million worldwide, making it the most financially successful video game movie ever.
The film currently sits at just beyond $436 million globally according to Box Office Mojo (via Yahoo News), meaning it has now overtaken World of Warcraft, which previously held the record for the highest grossing movie based on a video game.
Cinemas in five territories still showing the film – Norway, New Zealand, Slovenia, Portugal, and Colombia – helped pull in an extra $6,994 over the weekend, which when combined with the films US and global box office figures pushes it past World of Warcraft’s record of $430.1 million.
