As reported by Deadline, Netflix’ TV adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy series, The Witcher, will be arriving exclusively on the platform by the end of the year, which puts it ahead of its originally penciled 2020 release date.

The series stars Henry Cavill – of Man of Steel and MI: Fallout fame – as Geralt of Rivia, monster hunter for hire and lecherous Lothario. Readers here will obviously be aware of his gory and sexy antics via CD Projeckt RED’s excellent series of RPG titles. The show will also feature recognisable characters in the form of Triss Merigold, Yennefer and Ciri.

Featuring writers Jenny Klein (Daredevil) Sneeha Koorse (Constantine) and produced by Lauren S. Hissrich (The West Wing, The Defenders), The Witcher has some pedigree in its cast and crew, and will hopefully capture the spirit, atmosphere and wry humour of the franchise and its characters.

The Witcher is scheduled to launch on Netflix in Q4 of 2019.
