There are a heck of a lot of films about Christmas, and a heck of a lot of films about the zombie apocalypse, and there sure are a heck of a lot of musicals. But Anna and the Apocalypse might very well be the first feature length motion picture to do all three genres at the same time. And believe it or not, it works.

Jolly, gross and pretty darned catchy, Anna and the Apocalypse tells the story of Anna (Ella Hunt), a high school student who plans to skip college for a year and go on an adventure abroad. Her best friend, John (Malcolm Cumming), only wants to make her happy, because he’s had a crush on Anna forever. Their kinda-sorta friend Steph (Sarah Swire) is ostracized in school, and the wholesome romance between Lisa (Marli Siu) and Chris (Christopher Leveaux) seems destined to end in happy, early marriage.
