World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth‘s first raid is a good one. Uldir, nestled in the center of the Nazmir zone on the horde-ruled continent of Zandalar, arrived just last week.
With a heavy emphasis on blood magic and the occult Uldir nails it aesthetically: and it helps that what I’ve experienced of the raid so far (roughly half) is fantastically mechanically. It’s a great first showing for Battle for Azeroth amid some lacking content like Warfronts and Island Expeditions. If anything, you can always count on the raid team to come through.
This week players are getting the chance to hop into Uldir in two new ways. Casual fans get the LFR (looking for raid) easy mode matchmaking system today for the first wing (section) and hardcore players are racing for a world first Mythic (beyond heroic, which is basically “hard”) clear right now after the 11AM ET weekly reset. At the time of publication Limit is on top with 3/8 bosses cleared, and there’s at least 10 teams on the leaderboard with no less than one clear.
Limit was a strong contender in the previous Legion era of World of Warcraft, holding many world first records for bosses particularly in the last raid of the expansion: Antorus, the Burning Throne. In case you’re wondering, it historically takes anywhere from less than a day to over two weeks to finish out a Mythic raid. In Legion each Mythic raid was fully cleared in 18 hours, three days, 11 days, 19 days, and eight days respectively.
