Streets of Rage 4 is in the works, publisher DotEmu has announced.
The brand new Streets of Rage title is being developed by Lizardcube (Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap) and Guard Crush Games (Streets of Fury), and will once again feature Axel and Blaze as the playable characters.
Streets of Rage 4, a direct continuation of Sega’s arcade brawler series, will sport hand-drawn visuals from Lizardcube, alongside new gameplay mechanics, solo and co-op play, new stages, and an original story.
A release date and platforms were not announced yet.
Sega released the first Streets of Rage game back in 1991 and followed it up with two sequels in 1992 and 1994.
DotEmu recently announced Windjammers 2 for the Nintendo Switch and PC, coming in 2019. Windjammers 2 serves as a sequel to the 1994 sports arcade game that was remastered last year.
