With Daniel Craig suiting up to play James Bond for the fifth and final time, the rumor mill has kicked into overdrive speculating about who will succeed him in the role of 007. This has been a media tradition throughout the franchise’s long history ever since Sean Connery retired his license to kill. But while there have only been six actors to (officially) play 007 onscreen, there have been dozens that the media has erroneously labeled as being “the next James Bond.”
For the purposes of this feature not running longer than SPECTRE, we’re going to just narrow it down to those actors most often reported as “the next James Bond” in the Daniel Craig era, starting from the time Pierce Brosnan exited the franchise in 2002 until the present, where the media and odds-makers are already talking up who might succeed Craig.
