Obviously, there’s nothing that can be done at this point to change the WWE SummerSlam main event of Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar. I know this. The only wild card in play that can possibly reshape the scenario a bit is the Money in the Bank contract, which will either be held by Braun Strowman or Kevin Owens. But what’s done is done. What’s booked is booked. I’m just sort of Flashpoint’ing all of this.

On Sunday, August 19th, from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, SummerSlam will presumedly close out with the Universal Championship match between Reigns and Lesnar, marking the fourth time these two have clashed one-on-one on a major televised/WWE Network event, and the fifth time overall (last year’s SummerSlam main event was a Fatal Fourway). Along these lines, with the Greatest Royal Rumble botch still counting, Roman has failed to defeat Lesnar all previous four times. Now he gets another go round at the champ who only surfaces when the spectral hound barks at dawn and three clovers appear in the knot of the old oak tree.
