Twitch has been in existence since for seven years, first debuting in June 2011. It’s taken seven years for a channel to rack up over one billion views, but it finally happened on Sunday during the League of Legends Summer Split.

The Riot Games Twitch channel was the one that reached this milestone. The premiere channel for League of Legends esports managed to surpass those billion views during Sunday’s NA LCS action. These are views racked up over a channel’s lifetime. To give an idea of how popular League of Legends esports is, the Riot Games channel currently has over double the views of the channel with the second-highest number, StarLadder, which is home to many Counter-Strike: Global Offensive esports events. This is according to esports guru Rod “Slasher” Breslau.
Took just about 5 years to reach 1 billion. League of Legends is more than double the second most viewed Twitch channel ever StarLadder at 382 million. Most viewed channels are all esports: StarLadder, Beyond The Summit, ESL CSGO.

The Riot Games account is home to the NA LCS regular season, as well as several League of Legends esports programs and non-LCS tournaments. The channel was first created in 2013 and currently enjoys 2.95 million followers.
