Sebastian Stan has admitted he’s glad he didn’t get the Captain America role, landing the gig of Steve Rogers’ best friend Bucky Barnes instead.
Stan — who joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger — told CNBC Make It that he originally auditioned for the role of the Star Spangled Man With A Plan. However, he was told he wasn’t “right for the part.”
Instead, Chris Evans was cast in the role of Cap, and Stan became Bucky, along with a spiffy nine-movie contract. The actor went on to play Bucky in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and the recent Avengers: Infinity War— with a cameo appearance in Black Panther’s post-credit scene.
